Pit Bull Re-home Services

Do you have an American Pit Bull Terrier ( APBT ) in need of a new home?  Maybe you know of someone who needs to find a new home for a Pit Bull?

Certainly some circumstances can be avoided with a little forethought, yet other circumstances may be completely out of the owner's control, such as:

  • The enactment of Breed Specific Legislation ( BSL )

  • Declining owner health

  • Intra-household pet conflict

  • Temporarily taking in a stray Pit Bull

  • Changes in housing policies

This is why we offer free services to help in American Pit Bull Terrier ( APBT ) re-homing.

Based on our observations there is not an issue with overpopulation within the Pit Bull breed but more an issue with the situations above and bad policies that prohibit Pit Bull adoptions within the humane service community. The overpopulation argument has certainly been overstated and inflated with humane statistics do to these given situations. It is neither fair nor ethically or morally correct to count Pit Bulls within such organizations in non-adoption and euthanasia statistics if such organizations do not allow for adoption.

By far the greatest reason why Pit Bulls end up in humane service facilities is due to housing issues, seizure, Breed Specific Legislation ( BSL ) and irresponsible ownership. With the appropriate responese to these issues the American Pit Bull Registry ( APBR ) strongly feels that all Pits can one day be placed in a forever home.

It is our goal at the American Pit Bull Registry ( APBR ) to work with those organizations and individuals who are fair and friendly to the Pit Bull cause as well as show those not currently friendly to the breed - due to their internal policies - that there is a better and more viable alternative to such policies. We believe ALL Pit Bulls who meet a reasonable criteria for re-homing should be given a chance and not simply euthanized based on their breed and unfair stereotypes.

If you would lie to find a new home for a Pit or iIf you would like to take in a Pit Bull in need either as a foster home or as a forever home please feel free to review our APBR Resource Network located here.

Our APBR Resource Network is the first comprehensive Pit Bull resource service of its kind and is a specially designed service to help Pit friendly Rescues, Shelters, Individuals, and pounds in the rehoming and care process of Pit Bulls they may have in need of a new home.

The American Pit Bull Registry ( APBR ) is the ONLY registry that works hand in hand with humane organizations in the proper placement of Pit Bulls. Only by working together in such partnerships through a coordinated response can a large impact be made in preserving the lives of so many Pits that may otherwise be unnecessarily facing euthanasia.
